Dr. Alaa Shehabi is an Associate Professor (Teaching) in Middle East Politics at the European Institute for Social and Political Studies (EISPS), University College London (UCL). Previously, she served as Deputy Director of UCL's Institute for Global Prosperity (2018–2021) and Senior Researcher at Lancaster University's Work Foundation (2015–2018). She holds a PhD in Economics from Imperial College London (2002–2007).
Her research focuses on transdisciplinary mixed-methods studies, including infrastructure politics in Lebanon and Bahrain, energy justice, and participatory action methodologies. She has contributed to citizen science and citizen assembly frameworks, emphasizing equitable development practices.
