Ajay Parasram is an Associate Professor at Dalhousie University with cross-appointments in International Development Studies, History, and Political Science. He specializes in the colonial present and decolonial theory, examining historical colonial encounters and their contemporary structural impacts. Dr. Parasram completed his PhD in Political Science at Carleton University in 2017, focusing on political economy with subfields in International Relations and Comparative Politics.
His research investigates structural white supremacy and decolonization frameworks. Notable initiatives include the monthly YouTube series 'Safe Space For White Questions' and the forthcoming book 'How To Talk To Your Racist Uncle: A Manual For Racial Resilience'. Dr. Parasram co-developed the White Fragility Clinic in Dalhousie's Faculty of Medicine and serves as Founding Fellow at the MacEachen Institute for Public Policy and Research Associate with Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives (NS Office).
