Aimee Ehrman

Aimee Ehrman is a Fee-based Instructor in the Department of Art Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. She holds an Ed.D.DCT (in progress), Ed.M. from Teachers College, M.F.A. from SUNY New Paltz, and B.A. from Baldwin Wallace University. Her research focuses on embodied learning in ceramics and the intersection of educational settings with artistic practices. She combines movement studies and ceramic artistry in teaching, challenging students to explore materiality and bodily engagement in creation.

Research Interests: Aimee investigates how physical engagement with ceramics materializes in higher education, emphasizing studio pedagogy and the role of the body as both medium and maker. Her work bridges art practice and academic research, exploring how embodied knowledge shapes artistic outcomes and institutional frameworks.

Publications & Awards: Her work appears in Acne Paper, W Magazine, and exhibition catalogues. She has been a Graduate Fellow in Ceramics at Teachers College since 2018.

Teaching & Service:

• Taught over 15 courses/workshops including “Intro to Ceramics” and “Mold Making” at Teachers College and SUNY New Paltz
• Coordinated research on Pilates exercise effects and stair usage interventions
• Conducted ceramics workshops in NYC’s Penn South community

Labs/Teams: Active in Teachers College’s ceramics studio and collaborates with interdisciplinary art education initiatives.
