Adam Zucconi

Dr. Adam Zucconi is an Associate Professor of History and Chair of the Social & Behavioral department at Richard Bland College. He holds a B.A. from Bridgewater College (2009), an M.A. from Clemson University (2011), and a Ph.D. from West Virginia University (2016).

His research focuses on the American Civil War era, political culture, and the political dynamics of slavery in West(ern) Virginia. His work analyzes how communities navigated institutional changes amid conflict.

Dr. Zucconi’s publications and presentations highlight themes like slavery’s role in regional identity, constitutional law during upheaval, and post-war political relations. His current research examines how West Virginians balanced state-building with the Civil War’s upheavals.
