Adam Goodwill

Adam Goodwill, Ph.D., FCVS is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Integrative Medical Sciences at Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED). He previously served as Assistant Clinical Professor of Anatomy, Cell Biology & Physiology and Director of the Pre-Professional M.S. Program at Indiana University School of Medicine for a decade before relocating to Northeast Ohio in 2021.

His research focuses on the interplay between myocardial contractile function and coronary blood flow regulation, particularly how oxygen demand and delivery become dysregulated in cardiovascular diseases. The laboratory employs a top-down approach, starting with in vivo models and progressing to molecular analysis, aiming to identify therapeutic targets for cardiovascular disorders.

• Investigation of sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibition in myocardial ischemia
• GLP-1 receptor activation effects on cardiac efficiency in obese models
• Role of KV1 channels in coronary blood flow regulation

Scientific recognitions include awards from the American Physiological Society (Teaching and Cardiovascular Sections) and the Society for Experimental Biology and Medicine's Burton E. Sobel Award. Dr. Goodwill serves on editorial boards for Frontiers in Cardiovascular Therapeutics and Scientific Reports, and teaches courses in Cardiovascular, Pulmonary and Renal (CPR) systems as well as Gastrointestinal-Reproductive-Endocrine (GRE) systems at NEOMED.
