Abigail Gee is a Wellcome Doctoral Clinical Research Fellow at the Department of Psychological Medicine, Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, based in the School of Academic Psychiatry. She is a specialist trainee in general adult psychiatry with a focus on clinical and research roles. Her academic background includes a Medicine degree from the University of Manchester, an intercalated MSc in Neuroimaging for Clinical and Cognitive Neuroscience, and a PGCert in Health Research and Statistics. She completed Foundation training in York and was an Academic Clinical Fellow in Cambridge.
Her research interests center on understanding psychotic disorders through neuroimaging methodologies. Specifically, her PhD investigates whether levetiracetam can reduce hippocampal hyperactivity and improve cognition in individuals at risk of psychosis, exploring novel treatments targeting brain excitation-inhibition imbalances. This work bridges clinical psychiatry with translational neuroscience.
