Abeeda Khatoon

Abeeda Khatoon is a Lecturer and Staff Optometrist at Glasgow Caledonian University's Vision Sciences department. Her work focuses on optimizing patient referral systems in optometry and improving eye care access, particularly for marginalized populations. She has contributed to studies analyzing referral patterns in Scotland and England, emphasizing disparities in healthcare access.

She is a co-investigator on three research grants aimed at reducing blindness and visual impairment among people experiencing homelessness. These projects address co-funding mechanisms, interview-based insights, and specific barriers to eye care access.

Her research outputs include peer-reviewed articles and conference contributions. Recent work highlights the need for standardized referral protocols in community optometry. She collaborates with multidisciplinary teams and has presented at major optometry conferences.
