ALBERTO PENA RODRIGUEZ

Dr. Alberto Peña Rodríguez is a full-time Professor at the University of Vigo, affiliated with the Faculty of Social Sciences and Communication in the Audiovisual Communication and Advertising Department. With dual doctorates from the Complutense University of Madrid (1997) and UNED (2016), he specializes in the history of social communication, focusing on the Lusophone world, propaganda, and transnational media dynamics.

His research spans propaganda strategies during the Spanish Civil War, media representation of authoritarian regimes, and Lusophone diaspora journalism. His academic output demonstrates consistent engagement with media history and political communication from the 1980s to 2025.

He has held visiting professorships at Brown University and University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, and visiting scholar roles at Harvard and UC Berkeley. His leadership roles include coordinator of the Spanish Core of REFAT and presidency of the Association of Historians of Communication.
