Dr. Şermin Tükel is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation at İzmir University of Economics since 2017. She has previously worked at the Anadolu Autism Foundation, Uppsala University’s Child & Baby Lab, and Stanford University’s Center for Interdisciplinary Brain Sciences Research.

Her research focuses on the interaction between motion and cognition in humans, utilizing digital biosensors and behavioral assessments. Key areas include developmental neuroscience, motor learning, and rehabilitation technology.
Recent publications analyze: hydrostatic pressure effects on physiology, cognitive benefits of neurocognitive exercise in children, weightlessness adaptation mechanisms, and handwriting development in neurological disorders. This reflects interdisciplinary work spanning physiotherapy, psychology, and biomedical engineering.
She collaborates with international labs and applies clinical insights from her therapy roles at Turkish autism foundations.
