Şefika Kuzgun

Şefika Kuzgun is a Researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences (MPI MiS) in Leipzig, Germany, since September 2024, under the group of Prof. Dr. Felix Otto. Previously, she held a Postdoc position at the University of Rochester's Department of Mathematics. She earned her Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Kansas (2022) under Prof. David Nualart and holds a Master's degree from Boğaziçi University in İstanbul. Her research focuses on stochastic analysis, stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs), and their applications to physical systems.

Research Interests: She explores SPDEs using stochastic analysis tools, investigating properties like intermittency, density convergence, and path behaviors. Her work bridges stochastic processes with statistical physics and mathematical physics. Recent contributions include studies on critical long-range SPDEs, fractional Brownian motion dynamics, and convergence rates in limit theorems.

Professional Activities: She actively participates in conferences worldwide (e.g., SPDEvent 2025, Equadiff 2024) and is organizing two international summer schools (2024 and 2025) focused on probability and stochastic analysis. She co-founded a math support platform during Türkiye's 2023 earthquake to aid students and has led initiatives like the Directed Reading Program Türkiye. She is a past president of the University of Kansas Student Chapter of Association for Women in Mathematics.

Labs/Teams: Collaborates closely with Prof. Felix Otto’s research group at MPI MiS and maintains international collaborations with institutions like Cornell University and Bilkent University.
