İlke İmer is a Ph.D. candidate at the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology, Freie Universität Berlin, where she also serves as a Research Assistant at the Collaborative Research Centre 1171 (Affective Societies). Her doctoral project, "Olfactory Belongings: Contested Scents in Urban Publics," explores the sociocultural dimensions of scent and urban spaces. She holds an MA in Sociology from Boğaziçi University and dual BAs in Psychology and Sociology from Istanbul Bilgi University.
Her research interests include social inequalities, gender studies, and queer theory, with a focus on affective sociology and actor-network theory. She has presented work at international conferences, including analyses of gender mainstreaming collaborations and corporate social responsibility in Turkey. Prior to academia, she worked as a project coordinator for initiatives addressing domestic violence and as a freelance gender equality trainer.
İlke is affiliated with the European Sociological Association and AtGender, and her work bridges anthropological and sociological approaches to understanding contemporary societal dynamics.
