İbrahim DEMİRTAŞ is a Professor at the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Science and Letters, Iğdır University. He holds a Doctorate in Chemistry from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne (1994-1998), a Master's in Organic Chemistry from Atatürk University (1990-1992), and a Bachelor's in Chemistry from Atatürk University (1986-1990). His research focuses on natural product chemistry, with a particular emphasis on phytochemical isolation, antioxidant activity, anticancer agents, and molecular docking studies. He has contributed to over 198 publications, including studies on plant extracts from Loofah, Senecio massaicus, and Astragalus species. Notable awards include the Prestigious Scientist Award (2021) and recognition from TÜBİTAK (2015). He has supervised 22 thesis students, including works on Centaurea derderiifolia, Astragalus leucothrix, and Nigella sativa. His administrative roles include serving as Dean at Iğdır University and Çankırı Karatekin University.
