Ēriks Ešenvalds is a Professor at the Department of Composition, Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, and one of the most influential Latvian composers of his generation. His works are performed globally at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall, and Sydney Opera House.
His compositions include large-scale premieres with orchestras like the Boston Symphony Orchestra, BBC Proms, and the Latvian State Choir. Notable works include Passion and Resurrection, St Luke Passion, and Nordic Light, the latter blending multimedia elements with northern folklore and mythology.
He has collaborated with renowned ensembles and orchestras, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Kremerata Baltica, and Polyphony. His recordings feature choirs such as Trinity College Choir Cambridge, VOCES8, and Latvian Radio Choir. He previously held a Fellow Commoner in Creative Arts position at Trinity College, University of Cambridge.
