Ümit DURUK is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Science Education at Adiyaman University's Faculty of Education. He holds a Ph.D. in Science Education from Adiyaman University (2013-2017), following a Master's (2009-2012) and Bachelor's (2005-2009) in Science Education from Kocaeli University. Since 2011, he has served as a Research Assistant and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2021. His expertise spans Nature of Science, Metacognition, and Science Teacher Education.
His research focuses on science education methodologies, including argumentation skills development, student interest dynamics, and curriculum analysis. Notable work includes studies on concept cartoon-supported scientific argumentation, situational interest in heat transfer, and nature of science representation in textbooks. He has authored/co-authored over 25 peer-reviewed articles and edited multiple books in educational sciences.
Dr. DURUK has contributed to projects like the 'Science and Technology Program Planning' and 'Out-of-school Learning Environments in Science Teaching.' His teaching portfolio includes courses such as 'The Nature and History of Science' and 'Scientific Research Methods.'
He is actively involved in international conferences, presenting on topics like pseudoscientific belief reduction and teacher training programs. His work emphasizes bridging theory and practice in science education through innovative pedagogical approaches.
