Øystein Tvede is a Senior Lecturer in Scandinavian Literature at the University of Oslo. His academic background includes a Master's in French literature from the University of Oslo and Paris IV - La Sorbonne, and a PhD in French literature from the University of Oslo (2008–2011). Previously, he served as a Senior Lecturer in Comparative Literature at NTNU (2018–2020) and worked as a lexicographer for Det Norske Akademis ordbok (2015–2018). His research interests span Nordic literary figures, early 20th-century crime novels, digital humanities, French literature, film, and translation studies.
His teaching includes courses on contemporary Scandinavian film (NOR2415), Nordic children's and youth literature (NOR2310/4310), and introductory Nordic literature (NOR1300). His publications explore themes like peripheral cultural identity and literary analysis of Norwegian poets. Tvede actively contributes to interdisciplinary projects, blending traditional literary studies with digital methodologies.
