Özgür Avşar

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özgür Avşar is affiliated with the Faculty of Engineering at Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University, specializing in the Department of Geological Engineering. His academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Geological Engineering from Middle East Technical University (2011).

Research Interests

Dr. Avşar's research spans geochemistry, hydrogeology, and geothermal energy, with a focus on coastal sediment pollution, karst aquifer systems, and active tectonics. His work integrates remote sensing, isotopic analysis, and field geophysics to address environmental and geological challenges in SW Turkey.

His recent studies include assessing trace metal pollution in Fethiye-Göcek Bay (2023), land subsidence in Konya Basin (2021), and subaqueous thermal springs in Köyceğiz Lake (2017).
