Åsa Hansson is an Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer at the Department of Economics and Department of Technology and Society, Faculty of Engineering, Lund University. She is also affiliated with the Centre for Economic Demography, Lund Tax Academy, and IFN (Research Institute of Industrial Economics).
Education:
- PhD in Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), awarded in 2000.
Research Interests:
Åsa is a public finance scholar specializing in taxation and fiscal policy. Her work spans corporate taxation, tax incentives, self-sufficiency dynamics, aging populations, and the socioeconomic impacts of housing and relocation. She contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as poverty reduction, economic growth, and sustainable cities.
Recent Research Trends:
Her recent publications focus on Sweden's taxation policies, aging populations, and housing economics. Key themes include tax policy's effect on innovation, self-sufficiency among immigrants and native Swedes, digitalization's impact on tax systems, and interdisciplinary approaches to taxation.
