Dr. habil. Ágnes Kövér-Van Til, PhD, is a Professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), Budapest, Hungary. She leads the Social Traumas Research Group, formerly directed the Institute of Social Studies and the Gender Studies MA Program. Her research focuses on gender hierarchies, symbolic systems, and civil society under authoritarian regimes.

- Key projects: Analyzing power dynamics in university-community relations, deconstructing gender ideologies, and studying civil society's role in crises like the COVID-19 pandemic
Her recent publications emphasize how authoritarian illiberalism leverages symbolic systems to restore patriarchal structures, while also exploring tools for deconstruction. She contributed to University and Society: Interdependencies and Exchange (2019), which critiques elitism in higher education. During the pandemic, her research on Hungary's civil society highlighted government strategies of cooptation, coercion, and creation of loyal organizations.
At ELTE's Summer University 2023, she co-taught a course on social traumas, including Holocaust memory, warfare, and marginalization, with field activities like the Wallenberg Walk in Budapest.
