Ádám Gali is a University Professor at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) and Scientific Director at the Institute of Solid State Physics and Optics of the HUN-REN Wigner Research Centre for Physics. He leads the Semiconductor Nanostructures Research Group and holds positions including former Deputy Scientific Director (2022-2024). His research focuses on ab-initio computational materials science, investigating point defects in semiconductors like silicon, diamond, and silicon carbide for quantum technology, biosensors, and solar cells.
- Education: PhD in Physics (2001), Habilitation (2011), BME.
- Key Roles: Group Leader (2010-2024), Scientific Director (2024-present), EU Grant Holder (e.g., QuantERA, Horizon 2020).
Research interests span quantum emitters, defect qubits, and computational methods (DFT, TDDFT). Awards include the Hungarian Order of Merit and National Excellence Program grants. Over 200 publications, including seminal work on nitrogen-vacancy centers and silicon vacancy defects. Collaborates globally with institutions like Harvard, Stuttgart, and Linköping.
