Niklas Klein is a Professor at the Department of Information and Communication at Flensburg University of Applied Sciences. Dennis Ried is a Junior Professor of Musicology with a focus on Music Editing and Digital Humanities at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Department of Musicology within the Faculty of Philosophy II. His academic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts in German Studies (2010-2014) and Musicology (2014-2015), followed by a Master of Arts in Musicology (2015-2017), and culminated in his doctoral studies completed in December 2023 with a dissertation titled 'Half and Half' – Hybrid Edition as a Compromise? A Study on Methodology, Possibilities, and Limitations in Hybrid Music Editions Using the Example of Ludwig Baumann's 'Cantata. In Remembrance of the Fallen, for Consolation of the Mourners.' Dr. Ried's research focuses on Music Philology (Theory and Methodology of Edition, Hybrid Edition, Digital Catalogues), Digital Musicology/Digital Humanities, and the Edition of postal documents. His work bridges traditional musicological scholarship with cutting-edge digital methodologies, particularly in the development of tools for music edition and digital cataloging. He has made significant contributions to projects like Henze-Digital, the Reger Edition, and the Joachim Raff Archive portal. His publication record demonstrates a strong trend toward the intersection of musicology and digital humanities, with recent works focusing on digital catalogues, XML encoding standards (TEI and MEI), web applications for music edition, and metadata frameworks.
