Dr. Elizabeth Medina-Gray serves as Associate Professor in Composition and Music Studies at Ithaca College's School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, teaching music theory, aural skills, and video game music analysis since 2016. Education: Ph.D. in Music Theory, Yale University (2014) M.A. and M.Phil. in Music Theory, Yale University B.A. in Music and Chemistry, Swarthmore College Research Focus: Pioneering analytical frameworks for video game music and sound design, with emphasis on interactive media. Her work bridges music theory with game studies, examining how sonic elements enhance narrative and player engagement in digital environments through presentations at SMT, AMS, and NACVGM conferences. Professional Leadership: Executive committee member of the Society for the Study of Sound and Music in Games (SSSMG); NACVGM program committee (2015-2024); founding Associate Editor and former co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Sound and Music in Games (2020-2024). Teaching Philosophy: Cultivates musicality and critical analysis across diverse student populations through courses integrating traditional theory with contemporary media, building on prior teaching experience at Yale University, Oberlin Conservatory, and Humboldt State University.
