Dr. Jian Dai is an Associate Professor and Head of Studies for Civil Engineering at Oslo Metropolitan University's Faculty of Technology, Art and Design, Department of Built Environment. His research focuses on computational structural dynamics, railway systems, and very large floating structures, with applications to marine renewable energy systems and infrastructure dynamics. He holds a PhD from the National University of Singapore (2015) and a BEng from Tongji University (2009). Key research areas include hydroelastic analysis of floating photovoltaic systems, train-track interaction dynamics, and wave-structure interaction modeling. He leads the Net-Zero Future project aiming to reduce carbon footprints in built environments. He is a member of structural engineering research groups and has contributed to over 56 peer-reviewed publications. Current projects involve offshore floating solar arrays, submerged floating tunnel dynamics, and corrosion monitoring in suspension bridges. His work integrates experimental methods, numerical modeling, and machine learning for infrastructure resilience and sustainable energy solutions.
