Dr. Ilana Richman is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Department of General Internal Medicine at Yale School of Medicine with additional appointments in the Cancer Prevention and Control Program and Yale Cancer Center. As both a general internist and health services researcher, she bridges clinical practice with research focused on preventive healthcare services and cancer screening. Her educational background includes: AB in History and Science from Harvard University (2004) MD from University of California, San Francisco (2010) Residency and Chief Residency at Stanford Health Care (2013-2014) Fellowship at Palo Alto Veterans Affairs Health Care System (2016) MHS from Yale School of Medicine (2020) Dr. Richman's research program centers on cancer screening, medical decision-making, and health policy. She has a specific focus on evaluating new breast cancer screening technologies and implementing lung cancer screening programs. Her work explores the use, effectiveness, and value of preventive services across diverse patient populations, with recent studies addressing mammography in older women, HPV self-collection methods, and colorectal cancer screening participation. Dr. Richman has received professional honors including the Lipkin Award from the Society of General Internal Medicine (2016) and the Stanford Hospital Transform Award for Teamwork and Communication (2013). She maintains active board certification in Internal Medicine with certification updated in 2018.
