Yujie Zheng is an Assistant Professor of Geophysics at the University of Texas at Dallas, affiliated with the Department of Geoscience within the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. She holds a Ph.D. in Geophysics from Stanford University (2020) and a BS from Peking University (2014). Her research focuses on advancing geodetic techniques, particularly interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR), to study Earth's surface changes related to tectonic processes, volcanic activity, hydrology, and environmental sustainability. She leads the Imaging Radar Lab (https://labs.utdallas.edu/imaging-radar-lab/) dedicated to developing InSAR algorithms for improved Earth observation. Key research areas include: Environmental applications of InSAR for groundwater monitoring and land use Improving InSAR data analysis through closure phase bias correction and decorrelation noise reduction Volcanic deformation studies using geodetic measurements to constrain magma chamber dynamics Tectonic processes analysis via InSAR-derived surface displacement monitoring Recent work highlights include: 2023 atmospheric-river storm impacts on groundwater recovery using seismic methods Quantifying magma chamber volumes at Sierra Negra Volcano (Galápagos) Advances in InSAR phase stack processing methodologies Her research has been published in journals like Science, Geophysical Research Letters, and IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, demonstrating cross-disciplinary contributions to geophysics and Earth sciences.
