Dr. Kyle Cronin is an Associate Professor and Coordinator for Academic Computing & PhD in Cyber Defense at Dakota State University's Beacom College of Computer & Cyber Sciences. He oversees the Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) and directs DSU’s Information Assurance Lab, a cloud-based hands-on learning environment. As director of GenCyber@DSU, the nation's largest residential GenCyber camp, he engages hundreds of high school students annually. His research focuses on K-12 cybersecurity education, enterprise computing, and cellular communications. Education: D.Sc., Capitol Technology University (MD) M.S. & B.S., Dakota State University Research Interests: Dr. Cronin emphasizes experiential learning through lab environments and outreach initiatives. His work bridges theoretical concepts with practical applications in networking security, wireless protocols, and cloud infrastructure. He advocates for diversity in cybersecurity pipelines through K12 programs and residential camps. Grants & Funding: As PI/co-PI, he secured over $11M in grants, including $3.5M from NSA for CAE Innovation and $5.5M from NSF for CyberCorps SFS. Notable projects include GenCyber camps ($335K-750K annually) and infrastructure grants for cellular education ($200K+). Labs & Initiatives: Leads the Information Assurance Lab supporting all computing programs and organizes DakotaCon, a major cybersecurity conference with sponsorships exceeding $37K annually.
