Born in 1958, she graduated from Anadolu University Faculty of Medicine in 1984 and completed her Adult Psychiatry specialization in 1991. Her career includes roles as a Psychiatric Specialist, Associate Professor, and AMATEM Director at Ankara Numune Hospital between 1991–2004. Her research focuses on addiction medicine, neuromodulation, neuroimaging, and social psychology. Notable projects include the Collaborative Outcomes study (COH-FIT) on pandemic impacts and the Neuroscience20 initiative. She has supervised over 14 graduate theses on topics like social media addiction, substance use disorders, and psychological resilience. Her publications span behavioral neuroscience, psychiatric comorbidities, and pandemic mental health. She has contributed to international collaborations and authored textbooks on addiction treatment. Key recent work addresses synthetic cannabinoid disorders and HCV prevalence among drug users.
