Sharon Roseman is a Professor in the Department of Anthropology at Memorial University of Newfoundland, within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Her academic journey includes a BA from the University of Toronto (1986), an MA (1988), and a PhD (1993) from McMaster University. Her research focuses on Historical Anthropology, Memory, Labour, Mobility, Feminist approaches, Food Studies, and Language Preservation. She has received the President’s Award for Outstanding Research and the Dean of Arts Award for Graduate Supervision. Dr. Roseman has authored and edited numerous books and special journal issues, including O Santiaguiño de Carreira (2008) and The Tourism Imaginary and Pilgrimages to the Edges of the World (2015). Her work explores themes such as Galician cultural identity, migration, and the intersection of labour and mobility. She has also directed documentaries like The Last Generation (2020) and Stories Would Be Told (2018), highlighting community narratives and oral histories. Her recent scholarship addresses mobility justice, urban ethnography, and the gendered dimensions of transportation spaces. Roseman’s interdisciplinary approach integrates fieldwork, archival research, and collaborative projects, reflecting her commitment to understanding marginalized voices and cultural dynamics in global contexts. Her contributions extend to editorial roles in journals like Gazeta de Antropología and International Journal of Iberian Studies , furthering dialogue on rural revitalization, tourism politics, and transnational studies. She actively engages with public scholarship through film and participatory research, emphasizing the importance of community engagement in anthropological practice.
