Małgorzata Wrzesień serves as an assistant professor at the Nuclear Radiation and Dosimetry Laboratory within the Department of Nuclear Physics and Radiation Safety at the Faculty of Physics and Applied Informatics, University of Lodz. Her research focuses on radiation protection, dosimetry, and occupational exposure assessment in nuclear medicine settings across Poland. Her primary research interests include: Radiation dosimetry, particularly extremity and eye lens dosimetry Occupational exposure in nuclear medicine departments Radiopharmaceutical production and handling procedures Thermoluminescent dosimetry techniques Radiation protection optimization for medical staff Measurement of personnel exposure during PET/CT procedures Dr. Wrzesień's research demonstrates consistent focus on practical radiation protection challenges faced by medical personnel working with radioactive materials. Her publications reveal expertise in measuring hand doses during radiopharmaceutical preparation, eye lens dosimetry following reduced dose limits, and radiation exposure during various nuclear medicine procedures including ¹⁸F-FDG production and ⁶⁸Ga-DOTA-TATE administration. She frequently employs thermoluminescent dosimeters (TLDs) for precise dose measurements in complex radiation environments, contributing significantly to radiation safety protocols in medical settings. Her work spans multiple medical contexts including CT examinations, cyclotron operations, sentinel node biopsies, and dental radiology. The reduction of eye lens dose limits from 150 mSv/year to 20 mSv has been a major focus of her recent research, examining implications for routine monitoring practices in nuclear medicine departments.
