Bin Chen is an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Rochester, affiliated with the School of Arts & Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Cornell University (2007), an M.A. from Xiamen University (2001), and a B.A. from Xiamen University (1998). His research focuses on econometric theory and financial econometrics, particularly in testing structural changes, diffusion models, and nonparametric methods. He has published in top journals like Econometrica , Journal of Econometrics , and Econometric Theory . Key awards include the PEPR Grant (2011–2013) and the Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Students Abroad (2005). He has advised graduate students such as Liquan Huang and served on committees for Tak Wai Chau (Economics) and Zhen Chen (Biostatistics). His computational expertise includes MATLAB, GAUSS, and STATA, with access to financial databases like CRSP and NYSE TAQ. Chen has presented at conferences worldwide, including the Econometric Society World Congress and symposia in Seoul and Xiamen. He is a member of the Econometric Society and has reviewed for journals such as Journal of Econometrics and Quantitative Economics .
