Maria Alexandra Bulzinetti serves as a Researcher at the University of Florence's Earth Sciences Department while pursuing her PhD in the Regional Doctoral Program in Earth Sciences at the University of Pisa. Her work bridges academic research with operational civil protection applications through advanced landslide modeling. Her academic foundation includes: B.Sc in Geological Sciences and Territory Management from Carlo Bo University of Urbino M.Sc in Environmental Geology and Management of Territory from Carlo Bo University of Urbino Specializing in geohazard assessment, Bulzinetti employs field surveys and GIS software to develop predictive landslide models. Her current research focuses on optimizing rainfall-triggered landslide forecasting systems for large-scale operational use, directly supporting civil protection agencies. This work integrates hydrological modeling with slope stability analysis to create actionable early warning frameworks. She actively conducts research under the University of Florence grant "Calibration, optimization and validation of predictive models for the triggering of landslides" while completing her doctoral project "Landslides triggered by rainfall: from modeling towards operational application over large areas" under supervisors Prof.ssa Veronica Tofani and Dr. Samuele Segoni at the University of Pisa. Though currently a PhD candidate without supervisees, her methodology development contributes significantly to natural hazard management practices.
