Clifton Franklund is a Professor of Microbiology in the Department of Biological Sciences at Ferris State University's College of Arts, Sciences and Education. Analysis of his recent publications (2021-2023) reveals a strong shift toward applied public health microbiology, with most work focused on wastewater-based SARS-CoV-2 surveillance and water quality testing for recreational environments. Earlier in his career (1990s-2000s), his research centered on bacterial genetics of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and bile acid metabolism in Eubacterium species. This evolution demonstrates his ability to adapt research focus to address contemporary health challenges while maintaining core microbiological expertise.
