Dr. Elisavet Pitri is an Associate Professor of Art Education at the Department of Education, University of Nicosia, Cyprus. She holds a PhD in Art Education from The Ohio State University (2002), an M.Ed. from the University of Texas at Austin (1998), and a B.Ed. in Early Childhood Education from the University of Cyprus (1996). She previously served as a Teaching Associate at the University of Cyprus (2002-2008) and a Graduate Teaching Associate at The Ohio State University (1999-2002). Research Focus: Socioconstructivist learning through the arts, creative problem-solving processes, and the role of art teachers in fostering creativity across age groups Her work emphasizes multimodal meaning-making in educational contexts, particularly through visual literacy and innovative art pedagogies. Recent research explores narrative imagery in preschool play and creativity in early childhood teacher training. She contributed to projects like the GEM initiative to empower girls in STEM entrepreneurship and the Cyprus Science and Research Centre (CSRC) collaboration. Key Projects: GEM (2020-2022), CSRC (2017-2018) Publications highlight interdisciplinary approaches to art education, including design-based studies and empirical investigations into creative thinking processes.
