Professor Peter Smith is a Chair in Plant & Soil Science at the University of Aberdeen within the School of Biological Sciences . He obtained his PhD in 1991 and has held academic positions since 2001, including Senior Lecturer (2001), Reader (2003), and Professor of Soils & Global Change (2005). His work focuses on modelling greenhouse gas mitigation , bioenergy systems , and global food security .
