Juan Carlos De Obeso is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geology and Geophysics at the University of Utah, where he has been serving since January 2023. His research is centered on fluid-rock interactions in ultramafic systems, with a focus on serpentinization, carbon mineralization, and geochemical cycling in subduction zones and ophiolites. Key themes include low-temperature serpentinization, listvenite formation, and the feasibility of large-scale carbon storage in basaltic and ultramafic rocks.
