Philip Wrigglesworth serves as Senior Lecturer in Illustration at the University of the West of England's Art and Design department, specializing in Editorial Publishing, Narrative/Sequential Design, and Social/Political context. His pedagogy challenges conventional illustration boundaries through cross-disciplinary inquiry across Art and Design practices, examining how contemporary illustrators engage with drawing traditions while contributing to performance, interior design, fashion, film, and sculpture. His research centers on Economic theory and progressive Social structures, particularly Socialism, forming the foundation of his community-led teaching approach. Wrigglesworth emphasizes that modern illustrators function as collaborators, commissioners, and curators capable of driving societal change through visual communication in increasingly image-saturated environments. With 15 years of international freelance experience, he has been represented by Gerald and Cullen RAPP Illustration Agency in the US for a decade, creating work for The Guardian, Penguin, New York Times, Jacobin, and United States Postal Service. His 2016 illustrated book "ABCs of Socialism" for Jacobin and Verso Press exemplifies his political engagement.
