Her career spans executive roles at Statoil and Gemini Consulting prior to academia. Her educational background includes a PhD in Dr. Oecon from BI Norwegian Business School (2006), an MBA from the University of Colorado (1992), and a BA from Vanderbilt University (1990). Her work frequently examines how firms navigate institutional voids and balance global-local tensions. Analysis of her recent publications reveals a strong focus on environmental crises and sustainable business practices , particularly how MNEs can drive positive social and environmental outcomes. Her scholarship bridges theoretical rigor with practical implications for corporate sustainability and global strategy. As an active academic leader, she serves on the European International Business Academy board as Norway's country representative and chaired the Strategic Management Society's Global Strategy interest group. Her teaching contributions include developing case studies like the Flip Factory Inc. series. Her research methodology combines qualitative case studies, meta-analyses, and large-scale empirical investigations, often collaborating with leading scholars across international institutions. Current projects emphasize energy transition pathways and institutional development in emerging economies.
