Dr. Victorio Bambini Junior is a Senior Lecturer in Neurosciences and Neuroimmunology at Lancaster University's Faculty of Health and Medicine, Department of Biomedical and Life Sciences. His research focuses on neurodevelopmental disorders, particularly Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), with an emphasis on neuroinflammation, immune system interactions, and translational models. He leads research groups in Ageing and Neuroscience, and Microbes, Pathogens and Immunity. Key research interests include: Animal models of ASD induced by valproic acid exposure Neuroprotective effects of compounds like resveratrol Neuroimmune mechanisms in ASD pathophysiology Microglial biology and neuroprotection Gut-brain axis interactions in mood disorders His publications highlight innovative work using in vitro and in vivo models to study ASD mechanisms, with recent focus on imaging neuroinflammation and exploring pharmacological interventions. Over 50 peer-reviewed articles demonstrate sustained contributions to understanding ASD etiology and potential treatments. Current research groups: Ageing and Neuroscience Microbes, Pathogens and Immunity
