Deepak Shahajirao Patil is a Researcher at the Joint Glass Centre of Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín, Slovakia, specializing in advanced glass materials for nuclear and energy applications. His work is integral to the EU-funded FunGlass Centre (Horizon 2020 Grant 739566) and US Department of Energy projects. His educational background includes a PhD in Chemical Laboratory Sciences from University of Pardubice (2015), MSc in Organic Chemistry from SRTM University India (2008), and BSc from the same institution (2005). PhD: University of Pardubice, Faculty of Chemical Laboratory (2015) MSc: SRTM University, Nanded, India (2008) B. Ed.: RSTM Nagpur University, India (2007) BSc: SRTM University, Nanded, India (2005) Patil's research spans glass-ceramics for nuclear waste immobilization, solid-state ionic conductors for batteries, and carbon-negative technologies. His expertise in impedance spectroscopy drives innovation in chalcogenide glass electrolytes and metal-organic frameworks. Current projects include EPOCH (ARPA-E DE-AR0001147) for carbon-negative calcium hydroxide production and DOE-funded nuclear waste sequestration research (DE-SC0016574). His publication record shows strong interdisciplinary focus, with significant contributions to nuclear waste glass chemistry and solid electrolyte development. Recent work analyzes rare earth partitioning in multiphase glass-ceramics and spin-canted transitions in MOFs. Scientific recognition includes: Best poster award from IUPAC at 11th Solid State Conference (2014) Erasmus+ Exchange fellowship at University of Rennes1 (2015) NATO summer school participation in Ireland (2013) PREM fellowship at New Mexico Highland University (2018) As a collaborator in multinational consortia (Erlangen, Jena, Madrid, Padova), Patil contributes to Horizon Europe projects including CLiCAM, GlaCerHub, and EVERGLASS. His technical leadership in neutron diffraction methodology for glass crystallization studies supports next-generation nuclear waste forms. Current focus includes additive manufacturing of glass components and CO2 sequestration technologies.
