Roser Montañana-Rosell is a PhD fellow and Guest Researcher at the Department of Neuroscience, University of Copenhagen, working in the Kiehn & Allodi Laboratories. Her research focuses on spinal interneuron dysfunction in ALS pathophysiology, with particular emphasis on the temporal dynamics of spinal interneuron dysregulation from a transcriptomic perspective. Her research interests span several interconnected fields within neuroscience, with primary focus on neurodegenerative diseases, particularly ALS. She specializes in spinal cord research, neurophysiology, and the use of animal models to study motor neuron diseases. Her work integrates advanced molecular techniques including spatial transcriptomics and bioinformatic analysis to understand disease mechanisms at cellular and molecular levels. Her publications demonstrate a strong research trajectory in ALS pathophysiology, with multiple high-impact publications in journals such as Science Advances and Nature Communications. Her work shows consistent focus on spinal interneuron-motor neuron connectivity, locomotor deficits in disease models, and potential therapeutic interventions. Louis-Hansen Fonden research grant (225,000 DKK, 2018) Montañana-Rosell serves as a teaching assistant for multiple neuroscience and cell biology courses at the University of Copenhagen, including "Neuroscience I - Cells and circuits" and "Advanced Cell Biology." She co-supervises graduate students, including Dana Blenda Ahlmark (MSc in Neuroscience) and Kevin Weng (BSc in Machine Learning and Computer Science). Her technical expertise includes animal manipulation of rodents, spatial transcriptomic techniques, and advanced data analysis using R programming.
