Dr. Jessica Lehman is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography at Durham University, with expertise in human-environment geography, international environmental politics, and science and technology studies. Her research interrogates tensions between global and local environmental governance. Education: PhD in Geography, University of Minnesota MA in Geography, University of British Columbia BSc in Geography, Pennsylvania State University Research interests span marine cultural heritage, global ocean knowledge systems, and the cultural economies of unconventional resource extraction. She investigates how oceans are conceptualized as political, ecological, and technological entities, focusing on North-South power dynamics. Recent publications explore Arctic soundscapes, subsea carbon governance, and ocean observation histories. Her work integrates feminist theory, postcolonial studies, and political ecology to analyze environmental change.
