Gianluca Levi serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Trieste, actively contributing to departmental governance as a member of the Department's Board. His primary academic focus centers on theoretical and computational approaches to energy conversion challenges. His research specializes in excited-state dynamics for sunlight conversion technologies, operating at the intersection of Theoretical Chemistry and Sustainable Energy. Current work emphasizes computational modeling of photophysical processes to overcome efficiency barriers in solar energy systems, directly aligning with the department's research pillars in Theoretical and Computational Chemistry alongside Energy, Environment and Sustainable Chemistry. As Scientific Manager for the European Commission-funded NEXUS project (2025-2030), he leads efforts to develop novel excited-state methodologies. This €-sized initiative represents his principal active research commitment, targeting fundamental advances in renewable energy materials through advanced computational frameworks.
