Dr. Julian Werth is a Visiting Fellow and postdoctoral researcher at the School of Applied Sciences, London South Bank University (LSBU). He holds the following academic qualifications: MA in Sports and Movement in Gerontological Settings (2016-2018) BSc in Sports Science in Prevention and Rehabilitation (2012-2015) PhD in Human Sciences from LSBU (completed 2023) His research program focuses on biomechanical adaptations in human locomotion and stability control, with particular emphasis on fall prevention strategies. Primary investigations include exercise-induced stability adaptations, transfer of motor skills between virtual and physical environments, and visually-induced gait perturbations. Recent work examines how visual disruptions affect forward-fall resilience in real-world contexts, bridging theoretical biomechanics with practical fall prevention applications. Dr. Werth's publications (15 articles since 2021) demonstrate consistent focus on human movement science, with evolving methodological approaches. Early work established fundamental relationships between aging and stability control, while recent publications increasingly incorporate wearable sensors and virtual reality technologies. Key thematic progressions include: development of fall-detection algorithms, quantification of muscle synergy patterns during balance recovery, and analysis of training transfer limitations between virtual and physical environments. Teaching responsibilities include: Statistics Research Methods Research Projects Clinical and Applied Biomechanics Professional activities include serving as Personal Trainer at Lanserhof at the Arts Club (2019-2023) and maintaining a private exercise coaching practice in London.
