Misha Sra is the John and Eileen Gerngross Assistant Professor in the Computer Science department at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). She holds courtesy appointments in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, Psychological and Brain Sciences, Media, Art & Tech Program, and Cognitive Science Program. She is an affiliated faculty member of the Center for Responsible Machine Learning, Center for Aging and Longevity Studies, and Mind & Machine Intelligence. She directs the Human-AI Experience (HAX) Lab. Her research focuses on the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Extended Reality (XR), and Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (AI). She investigates novel interfaces, interactions, tools, and systems for psychomotor skill acquisition, task guidance, and creative collaboration, particularly in spatial human-AI interaction. Her work explores AI's role in democratizing experiential interfaces, human-AI learning dynamics, and transitioning from data-centric to human-centric AI. Recent publications span AI-guided image editing, spatial memory in VR, emotion-aware interfaces, and mixed reality task support systems. Her research has appeared in venues like IEEE VR, ACM CHI, UIST, and ISMAR.
