Dr. Bryan Schwartz is a Professor and the Asper Chair of International Business and Trade Law at the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Law . He holds an LL.B. from Queen’s University and a Master’s/Doctorate in Law from Yale Law School. Teaching Areas: International Trade Law, Internet & E-Commerce Law, Legislative Process Editorial Roles: Founding General Editor of Asper Review of International Business and Trade Law and Underneath the Golden Boy series Practical Experience: Counsel for Pitblado Law firm since 1994, adjudicator under Canada Labour Code since 1994 Research Interests span Constitutional Law, Indigenous Rights, Labour Arbitration, and E-Commerce. His recent work Online Dispute Resolution: Lessons from the COVID-19 Pandemic (2024) examines digital legal adaptation, while his 2023 book Re-Enlightening Canada critiques modern university governance. Scientific Awards include: 2015 Barney Sneiderman Award for Teaching Excellence 1990/91 University of Manitoba Annual Outreach Award 1988 Rh Award Advising & Grants : Schwartz has served as sole arbitrator in numerous labour grievances and Supreme Court of Canada cases. His work on the Manitoba Law Journal has secured repeated Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) funding , making it Canada’s most prolific law journal.
