Maria Lindh is a social science researcher at the Swedish School of Library and Information Science (SSLIS) within the Faculty of Librarianship, Information, Education and IT at the University of Borås, Sweden. Her research focuses on the social implications of information technologies (IT), emphasizing language use and rhetoric in organizational contexts. She explores how IT like cloud computing is legitimized and portrayed in public institutions, critiquing simplistic narratives that overpromise technological solutions. Her doctoral thesis Cloudy talks – Exploring accounts about Cloud Computing (2017) analyzed Swedish schools' adoption of cloud services. She currently edits the academic journal Human IT . Research interests include information management in organizations, organizational studies of IT, and privacy implications of internet use in libraries. Recent work examines tensions between user privacy and municipal IT policies in public libraries. Lindh’s methodologies often involve qualitative analysis, including thematic approaches based on activity theory. Her publications address digitization paradata’s role in contextualizing research outputs and Norway’s engagement with Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI).
