Dr. Andrea M. Nikolić is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Organic Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry, University of Belgrade. Her academic journey includes a PhD in Chemical Sciences from the University of Belgrade (2018-2022) and postdoctoral studies at Yale University (2023-2024). She has progressed through multiple academic roles at the institution since 2018, starting as a Teaching Assistant and advancing to her current position. Her research focuses on organic chemistry with emphasis on: Heterocyclic compound chemistry Transition metal-catalyzed reactions using organometallic complexes Development of synthetic methodologies for biologically active compounds Computational design of molecular photoswitches Her publications demonstrate strong expertise in palladium and cobalt catalysis, decarbonylation reactions, heterocyclic synthesis, and medicinal chemistry applications. Recent work shows increasing focus on computational approaches and therapeutic agent development. Awards: 2018: Special Recognition from Serbian Chemical Society for Best Students Research Projects: Active (2023-2026): Development of photoactive anticancer agents based on natural products (PhotoSCLART), funded by Science Fund of Republic of Serbia Completed (2011): Synthesis of aminoquinolines as antimalarials and botulinum neurotoxin inhibitors She teaches multiple courses including Theory of Chemical Bonding, Bioorganic Chemistry, Conformational Analysis, and Biogeotechnology. Active in professional societies and served on the Faculty Promotion Commission (2020-2024).
