Lieke Jorna is a researcher at the University of Groningen's University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG), specializing in neuropsychological consequences of subarachnoid hemorrhage. Her work bridges clinical neuroscience and rehabilitation medicine, focusing on cognitive and behavioral outcomes in both aneurysmal and angiographically negative cases. She holds a Master of Science (MSc) degree and maintains active professional affiliations: Board Member of jong NVN (Dutch Association for Neuropsychology) since 2021 Member of the Dutch Institute of Psychologists (NIP) since 2021 Her research program investigates persistent social cognition deficits, behavioral problems, and mental health impacts following subarachnoid hemorrhage using longitudinal cohort designs and advanced neuroimaging techniques. She specializes in diffusion kurtosis imaging and automated MRI quantification to map structural brain changes correlated with cognitive impairment. Analysis of her 2024-2025 publications reveals a cohesive focus on translating neuroimaging findings into clinical practice, particularly regarding patient communication strategies, mental fatigue mechanisms, and participation barriers. Her work consistently emphasizes the intersection of neurological recovery and psychosocial adaptation. Jorna actively contributes to academic discourse through conference presentations on mental fatigue mechanisms and symposium organization, including a casuistry-driven event on social cognition diagnostics and treatment pathways at UMCG.
