Trygve Kastberg Nilssen is an Associate Professor at the Department of Economics and Finance within the School of Business and Law at the University of Agder. He holds a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of Bergen and a master's degree from the University of Oslo. His research focuses on computational science applications across diverse domains including finance, medicine, and multiphase flow problems in the oil industry. Key areas include mathematical modeling of energy markets, optimization of financial derivatives, and numerical solutions for partial differential equations. His work bridges theoretical mathematics with practical industrial challenges. Nilssen has published extensively in journals like Journal of Energy Markets , Mathematics of Computation , and SIAM Journal on Scientific Computing . His publications demonstrate a consistent focus on stochastic modeling, numerical algorithms, and interdisciplinary applications. Awards: Best Paper Award (2010) at Energy Finance Conference Germany He maintains strong industry collaborations, having developed simulators for stock markets, cardiac electrophysiology, and oil/gas flow dynamics. As a visiting researcher at UCLA, he expanded his international academic network and presented at conferences across Europe, USA, and Asia.
