Robert LeSuer is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at State University of New York at Brockport. He teaches courses in chemistry laboratory, quantitative chemical analysis, and instrumental methods while exploring innovative teaching methodologies. His educational background includes: B.S. in Chemistry from Juniata College PhD in Analytical Chemistry from The University of Vermont under Bill Geiger Postdoctoral experience at The University of Texas at Austin in Allen Bard's laboratories Dr. LeSuer leads the Bespoke Scientific Instrumentation Design (BSID) research group, focusing on using digital fabrication tools like 3D printing and CNC milling to create more accessible scientific instrumentation. His pedagogical approach emphasizes Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) and specifications grading to develop student autonomy and leadership skills. He investigates how building scientific instruments affects students' perceptions of data reliability and validity. Dr. LeSuer is actively involved in the Brockport community through the makerspace 'It Begins in Brockport' (IBiB) and has entered local politics by running for the village board of trustees.
