Marc E. Lavoie is Professor in the Department of Human Sciences, Literature and Communication at TELUQ University (appointed May 2023) and Research Professor of Psychiatry and Neuroscience at the University of Montréal, where he has directed the Cognitive and Social Psychophysiology Laboratory at the Institut Universitaire en Santé Mentale de Montréal since 2001. His educational background includes advanced training in: Psychophysics at Université de Moncton, Canada Experimental neuropsychology at Université de Montréal, Canada Developmental psychology at Universiteit van Amsterdam, Netherlands Psychobiology at Université de Lille, France Dr. Lavoie's research centers on Tourette Syndrome and Body-focused repetitive behaviours, investigating brain-behavior-cognition relationships in neurodevelopmental disorders. His work extends to Obsessive-compulsive disorder, Event-related potentials, Schizophrenia, and Emotion Regulation, with emphasis on physiological treatment responses and psychophysiological emotional regulation mechanisms. Recent publications (2023-2024) demonstrate consistent focus on Tourette Syndrome and related disorders using electrophysiological methods. Key themes include ADHD comorbidity impacts, sex differences in tic disorders, neural correlates of repetitive behaviours, and emotional regulation processes through event-related potentials and qEEG analysis. Over 20+ years, he has supervised 80+ students in psychology, neuroscience, and psychiatry. His Canadian Institutes of Health Research-funded program addresses critical clinical questions in neurodevelopmental and habit disorders through translational approaches. He directs the Cognitive and Social Psychophysiology Laboratory and collaborates with the Tictactoc Study Group, maintaining an international research network across Canadian and European institutions.
